Biodiversity

After reading the article, it kind of struck me that the world’s animal and plant species are beginning to disappear due to human activities! The purpose of the International Year is also to raise public awareness of the importance of biodiversity and the consequences of its loss to human well-being. A large amount if ten species likely to be hardest hit by climate change.

Global warming which is the releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels for transportation like driving and flying and home energy like electricity, heating, and cooling. All of these are leading to global warming. And global warming plays too big a part to the Earth's biodiversity and native ecosystems.

I was quite upset to find out the clownfish is one of the victims of ocean acidification. It is really true that i begin to find clownfish adorable only after ‘Finding Nemo’. And due to the fact that the acidic water disrupts their sense of smell, it impairs their ability to find their specific host anemone, which they rely on for protection.

As the world today cares the most about money, a lot would prioritise money above any others. That definitely leads to more and more people taking money into consideration instead of our Mother Earth which means they would go for economic benefits than environmental benefits. In my opinion, we should definitely not put the Earth to risk. At times when I am at home, I’d usually love to switch on the lights of most of the rooms and would be too lazy to actually switch them off. However, my conscience would always bug me. Not because I am afraid I would waste my parents’ money but because i do want to be part of those people who saving the Earth!

Thus, i think it is all of our responsibility to protect and save the Earth. So let’s move our hands and feet to urge people around us to join us too!
